The Minneapolis husband and wife duo Curtis & Loretta will perform a holiday concert at 7:30 p.m. today at Hobgoblin Music.
The first half of the evening will be filled with the band’s favorites and the second set will comprise the duo's Victorian Christmas program, in costume.
Curtis & Loretta’s music comes straight from the heart. This includes poignant original songs and carefully chosen traditional pieces from the British Isles, America and beyond.
The show will include Celtic harp, mandocello, mandolin, guitars, clawhammer banjo, and National steel ukulele, plus a bit of kazoo, harmonica and shakers.
The duo married 24 years ago in Santiago, Mexico. They met 10 years earlier, in the spring of 1977, on the beach just outside Santa Cruz, Calif.
Curtis Teague and Loretta Simonet took to the road, hitchhiking up and down the West Coast, playing in cafes and on the street.
They rack up untold miles each year, crisscrossing the country to deliver their brand of folk singer/songwriter music. They’ve shared billings with Jez Lowe, Vassar Clements, Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie, Anne Hills, Greg Brown, Holly Near and Bill Staines among others.
In 2011 they received an Arts Tour Minnesota grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board and were named "Best Acoustic Performer of the Twin Cities" by City Pages newspaper.
