Shirley May Kimball, 83, of Red Wing, died Sunday, Nov. 25, in her home, surrounded by her family.

Shirley May Kimball, 83, of Red Wing, died Sunday, Nov. 25, in her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 20, 1929, in Red Wing, to Earl and Thelma (Johnson) Oliver. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1947. On June 29, 1948, she married Aaron Kimball at First Lutheran Church in Red Wing. They lived in Red Wing where she worked at the A&W Root Beer Stand, the Red Wing Pottery as a painter, and SEMCAC at Jordan Towers.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed going camping in Cumberland, Wis.; reading; playing with her grandchildren; walking the family dog, Jovi; and snuggling with her cats. Shirley's family remembers her for her artistic talents from pottery painting to cake decorating.

Survivors include her husband, Aaron; one daughter, Cheryl (Tom) Sasse; one son, Brad (Janis) Kimball, all of Red Wing; six grandchildren, Joshua (Heather) Sasse of Princeton, Minn., Krista (Jeremy) Belanger of Brownsville, Minn., Charles Kimball of Hopkins, Andrew Kimball of Red Wing, Aaron (Emily) Sasse of Coon Rapids, and Chelsie Kimball of Dassel; three great-grandchildren, Hannah, Jagger, and Declan Sasse.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marion Reeck.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Brian Scott and Jack Nordgaard officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, and at the church for 1 hour prior to the service. Memorials preferred to Red Wing Hospice or First Lutheran Church.
