Vivian Elvira Berg, 101, of Red Wing, died Saturday, Nov. 24, at the Seminary Home, where she had been for a brief stay.

Vivian Elvira Berg, 101, of Red Wing, died Saturday, Nov. 24, at the Seminary Home, where she had been for a brief stay.

She was born May 26, 1911, in Owatonna, Minn., to Ferdinand and Margaret (Fairley) Turnacliff. She attended Randolph High School, where she had been a captain of the girls' basketball team, graduating in 1929. She married Edmund Berg on April 9, 1931, in Waterford, Minn. They farmed for several years in the Owatonna and Dennison areas. In 1942, they moved to Randolph and, in 1949, to Red Wing.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Red Wing Seniors Board. She enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, and traveling - having spent 20 years in Florida. She also enjoyed fishing and dancing and had been a resident of Jordan Towers for 20 years.

She is survived by three children, Richard (Pat) Berg of Chanhassen, Duane (Carol) Berg of Red Wing, and Carol Thompson of Lindstrom; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Russell and Forrest; two sisters, Ardell Taylor and Hazel Owens; and a granddaughter, Angela Chapman.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at First United Methodist Church, with Reverend Greg Strunk officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to First United Methodist Church.
