Pine Island School was locked down for a short time Monday morning following an altercation between two men at a nearby residence, the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Deputies were dispatched at 8:05 a.m. to 215 NW Third Ave. in Pine Island for a disturbance. A woman reported that her boyfriend, 23-year-old Chase Zimmerman, and Cody Haakenson, 24, both of Pine Island, were arguing and a shotgun was present during the disagreement.

Authorities are continuing to investigate whether the shotgun played a role in the disagreement.

Haakenson was arrested on three unrelated warrants and was booked into Goodhue County Jail.

The school was in lockdown for about 15 minutes while deputies determined whether there was any immediate threat to the community.
