Commissioners await finalized LEC contract with city

With the Law Enforcement Center contract between Goodhue County and the city of Red Wing expiring in 2015, county and city attorneys are in the process of drafting a new lease agreement to be used for the next 10 years.

The agreement would have Goodhue County owning the LEC and Red Wing leasing space for offices, starting at $95,000 in 2014.

Goodhue County Attorney Steve Betcher told commissioners on Tuesday that he had prematurely told them in the past that everything had been worked out, when in fact, there are a few specifics left to finalize.

“As we get in deeper, we realize we haven’t written down everything in a thorough enough list to satisfy the city attorney,” Betcher explained, adding that he wants to get a more specific understanding of exactly how things will be integrated between the county and city law enforcement agencies.

“Now that the parties have agreed that they want to continue to work together … it’s an opportune time to work out the details so everyone knows what the rules will be,” Betcher said.

He said he’s hoping to have the agreement finished up before the end of the year.

• Margaret Trebil as county assessor

• Mike Hinsch to the Board of Adjustment

• Joan Volz, Larry Olson, Tom Webster and Len Feuling to the Planning Advisory Commission
