Turkey Trot with a Twist
The Turkey Trot is the annual Thanksgiving Day walk/run to raise money for the Red Wing Area Food Shelf. This year the YMCA is adding “a Twist.” Participants again can choose from a 1K, 3K or 5K, but they also can work out in the Wellness Center, swim laps in the pool or simply make a donation. Open swim
The rec pool will be open at the following times during Thanksgiving weekend:
• 10 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 5:30 p.m. Friday Nov. 23
• 12:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday Nov. 24. Water slide open 1 to 4 p.m.
• 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday Nov. 25. Water slide open 1:30 to 4 p.m.
Biggest Loser holiday challenge
The Y is offering a holiday challenge to help people maintain a healthy weight, gain muscle mass or lose fat tissue. Participants will receive daily inspirations, weekly challenges, nutritional tips, food tracking and special workout plans.
The challenge lasts from Nov. 19 to Jan. 18. Cost is $99 per person or $20 for Y members. For more information, email Martha at mharris@redwingymca.org.
Tree sale
The service club of the Y will sell Christmas trees in the parking lot of the Red Wing Pottery Salesroom starting Friday Nov. 23. The lot will be open from noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Proceeds will provide financial assistance for memberships, equipment for the Y’s youth sports programs and scholarships for kids to Camp Pepin.
