The Red Wing Housing and Redevelopment Authority has been awarded $405,000 from the Public Owned Housing Program. The funds will be used to modernize the elevators in Jordan Tower I and to remodel a tub room and the first floor public restrooms to make them handicap accessible.
The funds, which the HRA applied for, are a deferred loan and are forgivable after 10 years. The Red Wing HRA was among 14 HRAs statewide to receive a piece of the roughly $5.5 million in funds.
“We know we have some upcoming capital expenditures in the next 10 years at Jordan Tower I to keep the Tower in great shape,” HRA director Randal Hemmerlin said. “By receiving the POHP funds today, we will be in a better position to make those expenditures in the future.”
