To the Editor,
The United Way of Goodhue, Wabasha and Pierce Counties would like to thank the people of our service areas for their generosity in supporting our 2012 campaign. Red Wing, Lake City, Cannon Falls and Hager
City businesses invited us in to do workplace campaigns. We thank them for their support.
We would love to report that we have met our campaign goal of $500,000. However, it is too early to tell. Based on the increased number of companies participating and the pledges coming in from area residents we are very optimistic that our campaign goal will be met.
This week our grant applications are available on our website. Any 501c3 organization working toward United Way goals in education, health or basic needs, and currently offering programming in our service area, is eligible to apply for funding.
Last year we helped fund 29 organizations as well as our own programs, Packing for the Weekend, Imagination Library and SteppsUp.
Now is the time of year we begin recruiting volunteers to help make the decisions regarding how the funds you have entrusted to us are spent. We are looking for 25 to 30 volunteers who reside within our service area to sit on Community Investment panels in January and February.
For more information on grant applications, or Community Investment Panel participation, visit our website at www.uw-gwp.org or call our office at 651-388-6309.
Thank you again for your generous support, for investing in your community, and for Living United.
