Knit a child’s hat
Learn how to knit a hat this month. Come any Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Weight yarn is available to use. The pattern requires basic knitting skills including casting on stitches and both knit and purl stitches. There will be experienced knitters to help.
You need to bring your own needles, a seven circular 16-inch and a seven double-point. Cost is $10 members, $12 nonmembers. Registration is required.
Men’s coffee group meets
Join in for coffee with interesting conversation and friendship at 10 a.m. every Tuesday. All are welcome. Feel free to bring a friend. If you need a ride, call Faith in Action at 651-385-3290.
Active Older Adults
Get fit and stay healthy. Join in at the YMCA at 9 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. The Active Older Adults class includes low-impact aerobics, strength training and stretching. Cost is $30 for 20 sessions for non-YMCA members.
Games and cards planned
The following games will be played: Euchre – 1 p.m. Monday Nov. 19; Scrabble - 1 p.m. Wednesdays; Fun Bridge – 10 a.m. Wednesdays.
Support services offered
Several support groups and services are available.
• Eye glass adjustments will be offered from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday Nov. 20. The free service is sponsored by Pearle Vision.
• NAPS: Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors will be available 10 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday Nov. 20. Women and men 60 years of age or older, who live in Minnesota and meet income guidelines, may be eligible to receive a monthly food package. For more information, contact Channel One Food Bank at 877-500-8699 ext. 104.
• Foot care clinic will be available Thursdays from 1 to 3:30 p.m. with a home health nurse. To schedule an appointment, call Fairview Red Wing Homecare and Hospice at 651-385-3410. The cost is $32.
Medical equipment available
Gently used medical equipment is available at the Senior Center to use for up to three months during a period of medical convalescence or short-term disability.
Items include wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, shower chairs, commodes and more. If you need something, visit or call the center. A $20 donation is requested to help with the ongoing program costs.
