A film documenting the story of 38 Dakota warriors who were hanged in Mankato, Minn., 150 years ago will be screened for students and the public in Cannon Falls Nov. 16.

Cannon Falls Area Schools social studies teacher Missy Klapperich is organizing the screenings. A school-wide presentation will be at 1 p.m. where the film’s creator Jim Miller and four girls from the Flandreau Indian School in South Dakota will present the film.

A public viewing will be at 7 p.m. in the Cannon Falls Area Schools Auditorium. There is no cost to attend, but donations will be accepted. The funds will help cover costs of a 330-mile horseback journey from Lower Brule, S.D., to the hanging site in Mankato.
