Rescue training on Barn Bluff

The Red Wing Fire Department, in conjunction with the Minnesota State Patrol - Aviation Division, St. Paul Fire Department and Air Rescue Systems from Ashland, Oregon will be conducting technical rescue training on Barn Bluff.

The Red Wing Fire Department, in conjunction with the Minnesota State Patrol - Aviation Division, St. Paul Fire Department and Air Rescue Systems from Ashland, Oregon will be conducting technical rescue training on Barn Bluff.

Red Wing Fire Department personnel will utilize their technical rescue skills and equipment to safely access, stabilize, package and relocate patients with simulated injuries to a suitable extraction site. Personnel from the Minnesota State Patrol and St. Paul Fire Department will then air lift the patients to an awaiting Red Wing Fire Department ambulance located at Colvill Park.

All training will be conducted under the supervision of Air Rescue Systems Instructors. Numerous training evolutions and patient extractions will be conducted throughout the day and helicopter traffic will be notable. Residents are encouraged to use caution when in the area.

The mission of the Red Wing Fire Department is to enhance the safety and security of the community by providing cost effective protection of life and property, through fire prevention, public education, fire suppression and emergency medical care.
