Steele wins mayor in Pine Island
With more than 67 percent of the vote, Rod Steele won the race for mayor in Pine Island.
With more than 67 percent of the vote, Rod Steele won the race for mayor in Pine Island.
Steele finished with 1,115 votes while his opponent, Paul Perry, had 521.
In the race for City Council positions, Erik Diskerud led with 1,087 votes and Nick Novak followed up with 1,049 votes, each of them totaling about 33 percent. They defeated Dean Weis (523 votes, 16.26 percent), David Harrison Engel (161 votes, 5 percent) and Grant Friese (391 votes, 12.15 percent) to secure spots as council members.
In a special election for City Council, Randy Bates took down David Stafford 1,141 to 465. Bates had 70.87 percent of the vote.
