Incumbents appear to hold their Wisconsin Assembly District seats

The Republican incumbents seem to have held their seats in four local Wisconsin Assembly Districts.

Assembly District 93 was included, with a rematch between Warren Petryk and Jeff Smith.

Petryk won the seat from Smith in 2010 and apparently edged him again after redistricting: With 89 percent reporting, Petryk, a Republican from Eleva, had 13,377 votes to Smith’s 13,075. Smith is a Democrat from Eau Claire.

As of 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, all but two of Pierce County’s 28 voting units had reported. In St. Croix County, all 42 voting units had reported.

Petryk campaigned that Wisconsin needs to reform how it does business so it’s not spending more than it takes in. Petryk added that the current Legislature and administration have started that process, referring to changes that include limiting collective bargaining for public employees.

“We’ve gotten our fiscal house in order,” he said of the last legislative session. “We acted responsibly.”

These were the other district totals at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday:

• Assembly District 28: With 85 percent reporting: Incumbent Erik Severson, Republican, Star Prairie, 13,012; challenger Adam Bever, Democrat, Balsam Lake, 9,804.

• Assembly District 29: With 81 percent reporting: Incumbent John Murtha, Republican, Baldwin, 12,154; challenger Jim Swanson, Democrat, Menomonie, 7,827.

• Assembly District 30: With 100 percent reporting: Incumbent Dean Knudson, Republican, Hudson, 17,223; challenger Diane Odeen, Democrat, 13,635.
