New River offers veterans' event

Veterans and their families are invited to attend a Veterans Day breakfast and program Sunday Nov. 11 at New River Assembly of God, 240 Spates Ave. Breakfast will be served at 9 a.m. with a celebration service beginning at 10:15.

Lt. Cmdr. Wesley J. Modder of U.S. Navy Chaplain Corps will speak. He serves the Helicopter Sea Combat Wing at the Naval Air Station North Island in Coronado, Calif. He served in the Marine Corps for eight years and during that time experienced his calling to full-time ministry. He has served around the world including in Iraq and Afghanistan. He said his is to bring unity across denominational and racial boundaries with a focus on men’s ministry in the local church and military community.
