Letter: Cast a vote confidently for Farrar

To the Editor:

The Red Wing School Board is an active committee engaged in setting local educational polices for the schools, determining curriculum, and authorizing operating and capital expenditures within an adopted budget. All of us in the community are affected by decisions made by the board whether you have children in the district or pay local taxes.

It is important to have board members who are effective during their years of service and have the ability to be an effective communicator, consensus builder, leader, community participant, decision maker and a team player.

We are voting for Janie Farrar because we believe she possesses these attributes and can bring representative leadership to the board.

Janie has been actively involved in the community in multiple leadership roles including the YMCA board and capital campaign, the United Way, the elementary PAC, the Blandin Leadership program, her church, MOPs, the Red Wing Public Schools Foundation, and Sunshine Corner Preschool, to name a few.

She has a unique way of providing thoughtful, representative, and respectful leadership. She brings to the board energy, commitment, and passion.

We are confident in her fiscal ability to align district resources to improve student and teacher achievement.

With only four candidates for the four at-large positions, her position on the board is imminent. However, we wanted to inform voters of the quality candidate Janie Farrar is so that you can confidently cast your vote.
