To the Editor:
I’ve known Matt Schmit since growing up next door to him on Walter Avenue here in Red Wing. Matt is innovative, generous, and hardworking — a person we can count on to advocate for a strong middle class.
I am supporting Matt for state Senate because we are lacking the leadership we deserve in St. Paul. This used to be a state that worked. Our elected officials need to focus on compromise, instead of counting on government shutdowns and loans from our schools to make ends meet.
I believe Matt will play a constructive and committed role in helping our communities address the silica sand concern. We need a state senator who will tackle this issue on Day 1, by providing our communities with the necessary resources to make decisions at the local level — decisions that make sense for southeastern Minnesota’s long-term health and economic prosperity. Matt is committed to maintaining the high standard of living we enjoy in the beautiful bluffs area.
I am not surprised that Matt and his supporters have knocked on over 20,000 doors or that his campaign is creating a buzz this election season. Matt is focused on the issues, his heart is in the right place and he will bring new vigor to the Capitol, if given the opportunity.
On Nov. 6, vote for Matt Schmit.
