Alliance honors Master Naturalist program

The Minnesota Master Naturalist program was named “Program of the Year” recently by the Alliance for Natural Resource Outreach and Service Programs, a national organization representing statewide volunteer programs.

The Minnesota Master Naturalist program was named “Program of the Year” recently by the Alliance for Natural Resource Outreach and Service Programs, a national organization representing statewide volunteer programs.

The Minnesota Master Naturalist Program is a joint program between the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the University of Minnesota Extension Service. The program promotes awareness, understanding and stewardship of Minnesota’s natural environment by developing a corps of well-informed citizens dedicated to conservation education and service within their communities.

Minnesota’s Master Naturalist program began in the fall of 2005. To date, more than 1,000 volunteers have been trained. To learn about the program, visit www.minnesotamasternaturalist.org.
