Letter: Schmit is a straight-shooter

To the Editor:

I am excited about a fresh candidate running for District 21 in our local state Senate race: his name is Matt Schmit.

  I am struck by Matt’s passion for the issues and his experience as a successful consultant and small business owner. I believe Matt is a natural leader who will make a difference and be a strong voice for our region at the Capitol. 

Matt’s public policy knowledge combined with his private business experience prepares him well to fight for policies that will help our small businesses succeed. Matt understands the role that state government plays in creating an environment of entrepreneurship and certainty.

His commitment to compromise will undoubtedly help other legislators show the backbone to tackle budget decisions honestly.

Matt knows what it means to be Minnesotan: he’ll be a champion for our state’s natural resources and environmental assets, he’ll strengthen our children’s education programs and he’ll fight for infrastructure investments.

Matt is a straight-shooting small business owner with practical, hands-on experience that will help Minnesota’s economy thrive. 

We don’t often come across a candidate with Matt’s qualities: personal integrity, excellent communication skills and experience compromising and collaborating to get things done.
