Fire damages Red Wing Solid Waste Campus
A fire Saturday night at the Red Wing Solid Waste Campus caused some damage to the building, the Red Wing Fire Department reported.
A fire Saturday night at the Red Wing Solid Waste Campus caused some damage to the building, the Red Wing Fire Department reported.
Firefighters were dispatched around 9:21 p.m. and found a large amount of material on fire in the tipping floor storage area, the fire department reported. Seventeen firefighters responded.
There was some damage to one wall and some water damage to the electrical system, the department reported. The dollar amount is unknown.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The State of Minnesota Duty Officer was notified because of a possibility of contaminated runoff from the fire operations, which firefighters and city employees worked to contain, according to the Fire Department.
