Letter: Drotos understands need for sustainable future

To the Editor:

I'm writing to support Paul Drotos for Goodhue County Commissioner. In doing so, I do not wish to disrespect candidate Ted Seifert. I have known both for about 20 years and they are fundamentally decent people.

But Drotos shows a greater understanding of the importance of balancing current economic needs with a sustainable future. I lived in eastern Kentucky from 1975 to 1980, where the land and the landscape were ruined and the people impoverished and sickened by the coal mining industry. (For a good perspective on this, read "Night Comes to the Cumberlands," by Harry Caudill, 1st edition 1962.)

I do not wish to see this repeated in Goodhue County. Vote for Paul Drotos.
