Goodhue ended the regular season with consecutive victories after defeating Winona Cotter in three sets Tuesday in Winona.

The Wildcats had a difficult time offensively in the second set but controlled much of the match in a 25-18, 25-23, 25-18 win. They defeated Red Wing Monday in three sets.

“We let them creep back into it but we pulled it off,” Goodhue head coach Andy Kimball said. “We had a tough time getting good swings and having good passes (in the second set).”

Junior Mikayla Tipcke had 12 kills, 18 digs and a team-leading 29 set assist for the Wildcats (10-17, 6-7 HVL) and played an integral part in Goodhue’s winning the second set. She served out the game after the Wildcats fell behind.

“Her points were just what we needed,” Kimball said. “We were in a little funk. … For that game specifically, that was a good moment.”

Junior Mikayla Miller finished with a team-high 17 kills for Goodhue and also added 12 digs. Junior Meredith Watson and sophomore Shelby Hinsch each had six kills while junior Laurie Pearson tallied five ace serves.

Section 1A seeding will take place tomorrow.
