Community recreation briefs for Oct. 17, 2012
Hula hooping
Hula hoop for fitness and learn beginning hoop dancing starting Oct. 22. The class is from 7 to 8 p.m. Mondays for four weeks in the Red Wing High School upper J Pod. Cost is $80.
Nature walk
Environmentalist Bruce Ause will hold an interpretive hike on a local bluff this month. There is no cost. It will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday Oct. 20 at the Billings Tomfohr Conservation Area and groups should meet at the Sumac Drive trail head. The hike is sponsored by Live Healthy Red Wing.
Great Pumpkin open skate
The Red Wing Figure Skating Club will sponsor an open skate with the Great Pumpkin from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday Oct. 28 at Prairie Island Arena. There will be skating, cider, cookies and an opportunity to take your picture with the Great Pumpkin. Costumes are welcome; no masks please. Cost is $5. Rental skates are available for $3.
S’mores and sunset bonfire
Live Healthy Red Wing will sponsor a s’mores and sunset bonfire from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday Oct. 18 at the Upper Quarry of Memorial Park. S’mores ingredients, warm apple cider and water will be provided.
