Public comment period open for air pollution permit review

A permit application has been submitted to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources regarding a sand processing plant on Highway 10 in Pierce County, and those wishing to comment can do so until Nov. 11.

The DNR made a preliminary determination that the application meets state and federal air pollution control requirements and that the permit should be approved. The determination doesn’t constitute approval from the Air Management Program or any other DNR sections that may also require a review of the project.

Anyone wishing to submit written comments on the application or the DNR’s review of it can send them to Joe Brehm, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Bureau of Air Management, 101 S. Webster St., Box 7921, Madison, WI 53707-7921.

The public can also request a public hearing before the comment deadline date of Nov. 11.
