Youth Outreach has been living up to its name for 20 years.
The independent nonprofit’s workers strive hard to connect with any local teen who is struggling. As reported in today’s edition, staff members provide direct help, including something as simple and essential as a sympathetic ear, as well as link teens to other resources and services. Since so many teens don’t seek help themselves, Youth Outreach’s relationships with the school district and social services — who help make referrals — are as vital as the ones made with students.
This innovative program — created before the current participants were born — has changed lives. From teen moms to young addicts, from those battling depression to those dropping out of school, young people have weathered difficult times and become productive citizens with Youth Outreach’s help.
Red Wing is fortunate to have Youth Outreach helping the community reach out to its future — our children.
