Minnesota mystery novelist Erin Hart will appear at the Red Wing Public Library at 10 a.m. Saturday Oct. 27. Hart lived in Rochester and attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. After a career in theater, editing and journalism, she ventured into crime fiction. Her interest in Irish culture and music led her to set her first novels in Ireland.

Her debut novel, “Haunted Ground,” was based on a story she heard while visiting Ireland and revolves around archaeology, forensics, history, traditional music and folklore. It also introduces Irish archeologist Cormac Maguire and American pathologist Nora Gavin. These characters reappear in her next two books, “Lake of Sorrows” and “False Mermaid.” A fourth book, “Book of Killowen,” will be released in March of 2013.

This award-winning novelist lives in Minnesota with her husband, Irish musician Paddy O’Brien.

This author program will be in the Foot Room in the lower level of the library and is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by Friends of the Red Wing Library. For more information, call 651-388-6465.
