Cross-Country: Ellsworth performs well at Gerald Holte Invite

Ellsworth participated in the Gerald Holte Invitational Saturday in Arcadia, Wis., taking sixth out of 11 teams in the boys’ race and eighth out of 11 teams in the girls’ competition.
Caleb Gustafson led the Panther boys, placing 13th in 18 minutes, 20 seconds. Lucas Green was 22nd in 18:50, Mason Engnes took 26th in 18:59, Tyler Marson ran in 19:05 for 27th and James Jean came in 31st in 19:09.
The Ellsworth girls team was led by Rebecca Matzek in 25th place in 17:36. Kennedy Kowalchyk tallied a 27th place finish in 17:42, Cassie Lofgren completed the race in 18:19 for 47th, Kelsey Betthauser was 48th in 18:20 and Payton Bjorkman finished in 18:42, good for 52nd place.
Mauston took first as a team in both races.
The Panthers compete at the Amery Invite Thursday.
