The Wildcats had little trouble defeating the winless Knights in their Hiawatha Valley League Gold Division game.

Dillon Huemann scored five touchdowns and carried the ball 24 times for 233 yards to lead Goodhue. Huemann’s scoring plays all came on the ground and were runs of 13, 11, 61, 1 and 14 yards.

Teammate Kyle Drehmel rushed six times for 55 yards, and had a 20-yard touchdown run.

Zach Hinsch added a 25-yard interception return for a touchdown for the Wildcats.

“It was a great team effort,” Goodhue coach Tony Poncelet said.

Tyler Paquin led K-W with 15 carries for 126 yards and a touchdown.

Goodhue (2-2 HVL Gold, 3-3 overall) returns to action next week against No. 9-ranked (3A) Lake City.

“Lake City is a very talented team,” Poncelet said. “We don’t have any room for mistakes.”
