Both are veterans of the touring musician’s trade and both have their share of honors.
Guitarist, singer and songwriter Reed has been named Minnesota Music Academy Performer of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Best Recording of the Year, and has appeared on Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion,” ABC’s “Good Morning America,” and NPR’s “Morning Edition.”
“Where the Earth is Round,” is Reed’s 20th recording. Her catalog of over 200 songs – beautiful and memorable compositions – have been covered by other artists as well.
Griffith, a classical and jazz guitarist, bassist and mandolinist, has performed with Peter Ostroushko, Dean Magraw, Lorie Line and more. Her jazz CD “Sambanova” features many of her compositions.
The two have worked together on Reed’s theatrical show, “Heroes,” and performances of Reed’s “Nothing but Class: The Songs of Dorothy Fields.” Crossings audiences have delighted in these shows. This time, the duo will entertain audiences with a variety of tunes.
Aspiring songwriters have the special opportunity of learning from Reed and Griffith at a songwriting workshop before the concert. A two-part workshop, focusing on songwriting and improving musical skills, will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday Oct. 13. Cost is $35.
Tickets are $16 in advance; $18 day of show. To reserve tickets, stop in to Crossings at 320 East Ave. in Zumbrota or call 507-732-7616. For more information, visit www. crossingsatcarnegie.com
