Volleyball: Bombers diffuse Cougars

Cannon Falls moves to 8-2 in the HVL with a three-set victory against Zumbrota-Mazeppa

The Cannon Falls volleyball team regrouped after its loss to Kasson-Mantorville with a 25-14, 25-19, 25-13 victory over Zumbrota-Mazeppa in Hiawatha Valley League play Thursday in Zumbrota.

The Bombers got a strong presence at the net with MaKenzie Franklin and Katie Noble finishing with three blocks each. Franklin also led Cannon Falls with 15 kills.

“Their middles are tough and their outside hitters are good,” Cougars head coach Stacy Liebenow said of the Bombers. “They’re a very well-rounded team.”

Z-M libero Geena Miller had 17 digs, while Kaitlen Buck chipped in for 15 set assists in the loss.

The Bombers (12-3, 8-2 HVL) host a tournament on Saturday, while the Cougars (9-7, 7-3 HVL) travel to Kenyon-Wanamingo on Tuesday.
