Third-seeded Cannon Falls had little trouble getting over Tuesday’s loss to Rochester Lourdes, trouncing sixth-seeded Trinity School at River Ridge 6-1 during the first round of Section 1A playoffs Wednesday in Cannon Falls.

The Bombers (13-10) swept doubles competition and dominated all but No. 1 singles. McKenna Bauer won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, sophomore Tayler Banitt defeated Elena Turbenson 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles and ninth-grader Grace Rutter came out on top at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-0.

“The girls played well today and it was fairly routine,” Cannon Falls head coach Paul Norstad said. “Trinity has a really good No. 1 singles player. The girls stepped up and played really well for two complete sets today.”

Senior Allie Serres and ninth-grader Maddie Adel won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles for the Bombers, senior Dana Stoll and junior Kaesey Glaess grabbed a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles and juniors Sheyenne Bauer and Hannah Boman defeated Jane Hulse and Angie Hagen at No. 3 doubles.

Cannon Falls will play second-seeded Lake City Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in Owatonna.
