Book Club for Women

The group will meet at 10:30 a.m. Friday Oct. 5 and discuss "Canada" by Richard Ford. Make it your goal to read a new book and then join others for some friendly discussion.

Living Well with Chronic Conditions

Do you know someone with an ongoing health condition? Encourage them to attend the six-week Living Well Workshop. The series begins 1 to 3 p.m. Monday Oct. 8 at the Senior Center.

Laurel and Hardy

Presenter William Hoyt will show the Laurel and Hardy movie “Saps at Sea” at 1 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 9.

Granny blankets

Tie granny blankets with provided fleece. Join friends in conversation while the blankets are being tied, or bring your own needlework project to work on and share.

Gentle Yoga for Seniors

Learn gentle yoga positions and start anytime with instructor Michelle Hoffman from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesdays. Cost for six sessions is $45 for individuals, $80 for couples.

Gentle chair yoga can provide many benefits for conditions like arthritis, diabetes, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic pain and more.

Play games

The following games will be played: Duplicate Bridge – 12:15 p.m. Thursday Oct. 4; 500 – 1 p.m. Monday Oct. 8; Scrabble - 1 p.m. Wednesdays; Fun Bridge – 10 a.m. Wednesdays.

Support services offered

Several support groups and services are available.

• Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors will be available 11 a.m. to noon Monday Oct. 8. Women and men 60 years of age or older, who live in Minnesota and meet income guidelines, may be eligible to receive a monthly NAPS food package. For more information, contact Channel One Food Bank. The toll-free number is 1-877-500-8699 ext. 104.

• Hearing screening tests will be given from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday Oct. 10. A Better Hearing Aid Centers consultant will be conduct free hearing screening tests and free cleaning and tune-up of all makes and models of hearing aids.

• The Men Only Group will meet 9 a.m. Thursday Oct. 11. The group facilitated by Nick Even is a caregiver support group just for men. If you are interested, call Robin Wipperling at 651-385-3456.
