Letter: Diversity Festival is well worth it

To the Editor:

Diversity … yes!

I am a proud member of Red Wing's St. Paul's Lutheran Church. In the past few months I have become involved in the Reconciling in Christ and Invite groups. As a member of these teams, I experienced my first Red Wing Diversity Festival as an active participant.

The festival brought a large group of very diverse people together. I was pleased to see the respectful, positive, encouraging, and welcoming group of participants and visitors.

The Diversity Festival is a public reminder of the call for all of us to be open and accepting of people unlike ourselves. Our community is composed of people of various differences in economics, sexual orientation, physical and mental challenges, races, and religious beliefs. For one day each year, we are invited to meet, welcome, and learn from each other.

Is the Diversity Festival an important celebration that should be promoted and attended?

Yes!
