Volleyball: Bombers' swings strong in win
Cannon Falls' offense shines in three-set sweep over Winona Cotter ThursdayBy: R-E Sports Staff, The Republican Eagle
In its last two matches, the Cannon Falls volleyball team made it a point of emphasis to reduce its hitting errors.
And over the last two matches, including a three-set victory over Winona Cotter on Thursday, the Bombers have become more precise in their swings.
“The girls have improved that by 12 percent in the last two matches,” said Cannon Falls head coach Melissa Huseth. “I’m pretty proud of the girls for working on that goal.”
The Bombers swept Thursday’s Hiawatha Valley League match against the Ramblers 25-14, 25-15, 25-13.
MaKenzie Franklin led the squad with 12 kills, while Hailey Huseth and Carly Broze each finished with five kills for Cannon Falls.
Becca Vandenheuvel solidified the back row with 20 digs, while Franklin had seven total blocks in the Bombers’ victory. Lydia Franken paced the team with 17 set assists.
Cannon Falls (11-2, 7-1 HVL) faces one of the conference’s best in its next game, traveling to Kasson-Mantorville on Tuesday.
