U of M professor will join Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board
President Barack Obama will appoint Efi Foufoula-Georgiou to the U.S. Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board, the White House reported.
President Barack Obama will appoint Efi Foufoula-Georgiou to the U.S. Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board, the White House reported. Foufoula-Georgiou is a civil engineering professor with the University of Minnesota and one of only eight individuals nationwide who will be appointed to the board.
Prior to joining the faculty at the U of M, she has worked at Iowa State University and University of Minnesota’s St. Anthony Falls Laboratory.
As a member of the Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board, Foufoula-Georgiou will help provide scientific and technical oversight of the Department of Energy’s program for managing and disposing of high-level radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel.
