Volleyball: Cannon Falls cruises to win

The Cannon Falls volleyball team extended its win streak to six games on Tuesday with a three-set Hiawatha Valley League victory over La Crescent in Cannon Falls. The Bombers swept the match 25-16, 25-13, 25-17.
“Tonight was a confidence booster,” said Cannon Falls head coach Melissa Huseth. “I really feel like we came to play tonight. We worked on speeding up our offense a bit and getting some fakes in there, and it all worked really well.”
MaKenzie Franklin put out an all-around effort for the Bombers with 15 kills, three ace serves, seven digs and two ace blocks. Carly Broze added six kills, while Madasyn Hofstedt and Katie Noble each added five kills in the victory.
Lydia Franken controlled the offense with 23 set assists, and also had eight digs and a pair of ace serves. Libero Becca Vandenheuvel finished with a team-high 15 digs.
The Lancers were led by Jennifer Ingvalson and Jennifer Michalke, who each have three kills in the loss.
After hosting its last three matches at home, Cannon Falls hits the road on Thursday for an HVL contest against Winona Cotter.
