Boys Soccer: Late goal lifts Red Wing
Angel Fernandez's free kick in the 80th minute puts Red Wing over Kasson-Mantorville on SaturdayBy: R-E Sports Staff, The Republican Eagle
On the road for a non-conference match with Kasson-Mantorville, the Red Wing boys soccer team got back in the win column after defeating the KoMets 2-1 Saturday.
Towan Howard got the Wingers an early 1-0 lead off an assist by Dylan Goggin in the ninth minute. K-M evened the score just before halftime with a goal.
In a back-and-forth contest, Red Wing got an ample opportunity for a goal when Kaden Erie was fouled just outside the 18-yard box, setting up a direct free kick. With 10 minutes remaining, sophomore Angel Fernandez took the free kick and blasted it in the net for the game-winner.
