Letter: Precious memorial gone

To the Editor:
Five years ago I lost my daughter Katie in an accident on a trail in a public area. Like a lot of people who lose loved ones in a public place, that place becomes a memorial.
I set up a memorial along the trail, and someone decided to destroy it. Concrete pieces holding personal messages were removed as well as personal things for her. A tree was also cut down onto the memorial.
It brought me to my knees the first time. I looked all over the woods for any piece of it, but it was gone. I started to rebuild it this year, but it didn't take long before someone had gone down to mess with it again.
And now a solar light that my granddaughter put down there for her Auntie Katie is gone. I don't get it. I don't understand how anyone can be so heartless.
Katie is gone and this is all I can do for her now. It is hard enough without having people, who did not even know her, destroy this memorial over and over. I am begging whoever you are, please stop, please.
