Letter: Drotos stands tall for environment

To the Editor:

As an artist and as a musician, what I see and what I hear is important to me. What I see is that the environment is precious and what I hear is that more and more people share my concerns about it.

Six years ago, a group of Red Wing residents started getting together to talk about sustainability. We called ourselves, "Sustain Red Wing." Our mission was to add explainability to sustainability. We wanted to get the word out that sustainability saves tax dollars along with our environment,

Candidate for Goodhue County commissioner Paul Drotos was a founding member of "Sustain Red Wing" and he currently serves as the environmental officer for the city of Red Wing. A county commissioner with a solid background in sustainability would be a welcome change.

I trust Drotos to protect us against the environmentally devastating silica sand mining. He has stood firm with the majority in calling for a ban on frac sand mining in Goodhue County.

His opponent, longtime Commissioner Ted Seifert, has stated his willingness to allow frac sand mining during a KCUE radio interview on June 28 as well as in a letter to the Republican Eagle July 30.

Paul Drotos has served our city and now he is now willing to serve the people of Goodhue County. I think we should give him the chance.
