Lake City’s doubles can’t lose right now. The Tigers swept doubles play for the fifth consecutive conference match en route to a 5-2 victory in Cannon Falls.

Lake City’s doubles can’t lose right now.

The Tigers swept doubles play for the fifth consecutive conference match en route to a 5-2 victory in Cannon Falls.

Lake City’s Katie Wallerich and Allison Harvey won 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 against Allie Serres and Dana Stoll at No. 1 doubles, Katie Coyle and Braeden McElmury defeated Maddie Adel and Kaesey Glaess 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles and Emily Moechnig and Erica Hubband tallied a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles against Sheyenne Bauer and Hannah Boman.

Amy Orthaus defeated Samantha Modrak 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles and Haley Webster won 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles to round out the wins for the Tigers (11-5, 4-2 HVL).

Tayler Banitt won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles for Cannon Falls and Grace Rutter won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.

Lake City head coach Dave Toole said he credits the Tigers success this season to the work put in by his five assistant coaches. During any practice, six coaches are busy preparing the players for each match and it shows on match days. Toole is currently in his 27th year with the team.

Lake City plays again Tuesday at home against Stewartville and Cannon Falls hosts an invite with LeSueur-Henderson, Albert Lea and Ellsworth.

Lake City nearly defeats Rochester Lourdes

Lake City was one point away from upsetting sixth-ranked Rochester Lourdes Tuesday in Rochester but fell 4-3.

The Tigers swept doubles play again and nearly pulled out wins at No. 2 and No. 4 singles.

Webster lost 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Katie Henning fell 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 at No. 4 singles.

Wallerich and Harvey defeated Grace Gorman and Rachel Morice 7-5, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, Coyle and McElmury won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles and Moechnig and Hubbard came out on top at No. 3 doubles, 6-3, 6-4.

Lake City’s only two conference losses this season are to Lourdes.
