Volleyball: Wildcats fall to ranked Stewartville

Facing No. 2-ranked Stewartville on Thursday, the Goodhue volleyball team put up a fight, but ultimately fell to the Tigers 25-19, 25-12, 25-18 in a Hiawatha Valley League match.
Though the Wildcats were swept, head coach Andy Kimball was pleased to see how his team held up against one of Class 2A’s top teams.
“(Stewartville’s) a tough team, they’re really good,” Kimball said. “The fact that we scored 19 and 18 against them, I was pretty happy with that.”
Junior Emilee Roschen was a force in the back row for Goodhue, coming up with a team-high 25 digs. Setter Mikayla Tipcke had 11 digs and 16 set assists, and Meredith Watson led the Wildcats (2-4 HVL, 4-8-2) with seven kills.
Goodhue is in conference action Tuesday against Lake City.
