Red Wing’s offense never got going Thursday as the Wingers lost 2-0 to Chaska in Chaska.
The Hawks tallied two goals in the first half on 10 shots, the first coming four minutes into the game and another 20 minutes into the first half.
“We just came out of the gates not at the same step we usually come out,” Red Wing head coach Brian Quigley said. “We didn’t have the regular zip we usually have.”
In the second half, the Wingers (4-4-1, 0-2-1 Missota) put together a much better showing but couldn’t find the back of the net. Red Wing had two or three scoring chances but Chaska’s goalkeeper had a good game, Quigley said.
“They stepped it up quite a bit,” he said of his team. “If we could have gotten started at the beginning of the game it would have been great.”
The Wingers had eight shots in the loss.
Red Wing plays Kasson-Mantorville Saturday at 7 p.m. in Kasson.
