The Ellsworth girls tennis team finally reached the win column on Tuesday, picking up a 4-2 victory on the road at Bloomer, Wis.
“All of our hard work is paying off,” said Panthers head coach Dylan Greske. “We have had quite a few close matches and things are starting to go our way. Everyone played well tonight.”
In singles, Ellsworth dominated, as the team lost just two sets in all three matches. Stacie Peterson and Rodchelle Sweig each got 6-0, 6-0 wins in No. 2 and 3 singles, respective. At No. 1, Jordan Olson held off the Blackhawks’ Shanna Littfin for the 6-1, 6-1 victory.
Getting the Panthers’ lone win in doubles was the No. 1 duo of Kali Schaar and Megan Stress, who defeated Bloomer’s Tatyana Garcia and Katrina Dutton 6-2, 6-4.
“I’m so proud of all the girls for not giving up and staying positive,” Greske said. “I have a great group of girls and I couldn’t be more proud.”
Off the heels of its first win, Ellsworth is back on the road Thursday for a match against Mondovi.
