The Zumbrota-Mazeppa volleyball team snapped a two-game skid on Tuesday, moving to 3-2 in the Hiawatha Valley League with a four-set victory at Winona Cotter. The Cougars defeated the Ramblers 25-13, 27-25, 24-26, 25-22.

“We started out well, but we kind of faded a little bit,” said Z-M head coach Stacy Lebenow. “(The win is) all that matters, but we kind of didn’t play to our level. That hurt us a little bit.”

Helping the Cougars weather the storm from Cotter were setters Kaitlen Buck and Kalli Paukert, who had 19 and 10 set assists, respectively. Claira Sullivan chimed in with 13 kills, and Geena Miller had a Couger-best 17 digs in the victory.

Z-M (3-2 HVL, 5-6) is at home Thursday for an HVL match-up with Pine Island.
