The Lake City boys soccer team is still in search of its first Hiawatha Valley League win after playing to a 2-2 tie against Stewartville on Tuesday in Stewartville.
Five minutes into the match, Nick Sievers found the back of the net for Lake City for the 1-0 advantage. But about a minute later, Stewartville’s Justin Zabinski tied the game up, and at the 15-minute mark, Stewartville took the 2-1 lead that stood until halftime.
At the 56th minute, Elijah Kroll tied the game for Lake City after converting a penalty kick into a goal. From there, the two teams remained scoreless, forcing the game into a tie.
“It was very competitive,” said Lake City head coach Paul Oliver. “They came out tough, but we rebounded in the second half. It was a well-played game.”
Lake City (0-3-1 HVL, 3-6-1) travels for a non-conference game Saturday at Faribault.
