Looking for its first win since Sept. 8, the Red Wing volleyball team could not emerge from its slump at the Wabasha-Kellogg tournament on Saturday, going 0-4. The Wingers had losses to Cochrain-Fountain City, Wis. (21-6, 22-20), Dover-Eyota (21-16, 21-7), Fillmore Central (21-10, 21-16) and Lewiston-Altura (25-13, 25-15).

“It was not a great weekend for the Winger volleyball team,” said Red Wing head volleyball coach Heidi Ulwelling.

Using a pair of freshman setters, McKenzie Cota finished the day with 10 set assists, while Sara O’Keefe had a team-high 12 set assists in the four matches.

Macy Kelly swung her way to a Winger-best 13 kills, while Sydney Book controlled the block with seven total ace blocks (5 block assists, 2 solo blocks).

On Tuesday, Red Wing (4-13) hosted Winona for a non-conference match. Results were not available at press time.
