Mistakes tripped up 10th-ranked Cannon Falls again and again and it led to the blowout loss in Kasson. The Bombers (2-1, 0-1 HVL Blue) had three drives stall because of penalties in the first half, head coach Josh Hofstedt said, and threw three interceptions.

“We killed ourselves with penalties and the game went the wrong way,” Hofstedt said. “We struggled throwing the ball and you can’t do that against a team like Kasson.”

Cannon Falls ran for 187 yards on 43 carries but completed just 5 passes for 64 yards.

Ian Althoff led the Bombers with 107 yards rushing on 21 carries and their lone points came on a 28-yard field goal by Derek Johnson. The score pulled Cannon Falls within 14-7 with 27 seconds left in the opening half.

The Bombers trailed 21-3 at halftime as the KoMets scored on an 8-yard touchdown pass with five seconds left in the second quarter.

K-M scored three more times in a 3-minute span in the third quarter to balloon the lead.

Clay Broze led Cannon Falls with eight tackles, Jordan Lundell supplied four tackles and an interception and Ryan Castillo had six tackles and a forced fumble.

The Bombers will try to rebound next Friday at home vs. La Crescent.
