Two days after falling to Stewartville, Class AA’s No. 2 team, at home, the Cannon Falls volleyball team rebounded with a three-set Hiawatha Valley League victory over Triton in Dodge City. The Bombers won Thursday’s match 25-19, 27-25, 25-13.

“Triton was a very scrappy team,” said Cannon Falls head coach Melissa Huseth. “We came out kind of flat, and I think we were mentally and physically exhausted from Tuesday. We ended up getting it together in the third set.”

MaKenzie Franklin led the Bombers with eight kills and two ace serves, while freshman middle hitter Katie Noble had five total ace blocks. Becca Vandenheuvel had 20 digs and a pair of ace serves, while Lydia Franken paced the offense with 18 set assists.

“We needed a game like this heading into the weekend,” Huseth said.

Moving to 4-1 overall, Cannon Falls heads to southwest Minnesota for a weekend tournament at Jackson County Central.

The Bombers opened this morning against Minneota, the No. 3-ranked team in Class A.
