Cross-Country: Winger boys take fifth

Red Wing junior Aiden Winn finished 17th at the 42nd Mayo Invitational Thursday at Eastwood Golf Course in Rochester to help the Wingers’ boys team take fifth out of 20 teams.

Red Wing junior Aiden Winn finished 17th at the 42nd Mayo Invitational Thursday at Eastwood Golf Course in Rochester to help the Wingers’ boys team take fifth out of 20 teams.

Winn ran the race in 17 minutes, 4.98 seconds.

Sophomore Marcus Warrington placed 38th in 17:39.17, ninth-grader George Nemanich was 41st in 17:45.31, junior Joe Partington was one place behind Nemanich in 17:46.50 and sophomore Meyer Beckner rounded out the Wingers’ scored runners in 59th place with a time of 18:16.77.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa/Kenyon-Wanamingo and Cannon Falls finished in 19th and 20th place, respectively. Sophomore Eric Hokanson came in 86th to lead Z-M/K-W and junior Connor Rohr was 104th for the Bombers.

Red Wing girls place 13th

The Red Wing girls cross-country team finished 13th out of 19 teams Thursday.

Junior Lindsay Scribner put in another good race, coming in 17th place in 16:00.14. Eight-grader Elise Leise was 29th in 16:20.80, junior Hailee Johnson was 82nd in 17:36.84, eighth-grader Adelle DeSutter was 85th and sophomore Adrienne Hicks finished 86th for the Wingers.

Cannon Falls’ Emi Trost tallied another top-5 finish, coming in third place in 14:58.78 as the Bombers were 17th as a team.
