Red Wing competed against Chaska Thursday in Chaska and came away with multiple top finishes.
Ninth-grader Ingrid Olson won the 100-yard backstroke in 1 minute, 7.04 seconds to tally the Wingers only race win but Red Wing was runner-up in 10 events. The Wingers lost 104-80.
Red Wing had three relay teams come in second, with the 200 medley relay team of senior Sydney Steger, junior Ashley Thompson, eighth-grader Claire King and ninth-grader Hannah Kolsky finishing in 2:05.10. The 200 freestyle relay team swam in 1:51.43 and the 400 freestyle was second in 4:00.99. Thompson also placed second in the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke, where she finished in 1:14.33, with Chaska’s Michaela Larson just outpacing her at 1:14.15.
King also took second in the 50 freestyle in 27.06 while senior Amy Nemanich was second in the 200 freestyle in 2:10.85 and the 500 freestyle in 5:47.94. Seventh-grader Carly Boisen was second in the 100 freestyle in 1:02.76 and senior Jess Kolsky finished second in the 1-meter diving competition.
The Wingers compete again Saturday at Bloomington Kennedy.
