The Red Wing Human Rights Commission each year since 2001 has recognized an individual in the community for work in promoting and ensuring others’ rights. The worthiest candidates, the commission says when seeking nominations, will have performed human rights work differentiated from humanitarian work.

We live and work among many people who follow in the footsteps of Amos Owen, from whom this award is named. Burnes, who champions equality for all, is a welcome addition to this honor roll.
